Sanders Takes Advantage After Polls on National Defense and Education Released?

After holding two press conferences and one debate, Republican candidate Jordan Rubio and Democratic candidate Rebecca Sanders both should have a good idea of how the American citizens favor each of their ideologies. To further expand on the public opinion’s of these candidates, we at Red White and News conducted a series of polls that exposed numerous interesting statistics about the election. I focused on polls that related to the topic of national defense and education both of which are quite relative topics that have been in the news often recently. My polls were conducted on the Ithaca College campus and the surrounding area, and the results seemed to favor candidate Rebecca Sanders ideas. For example, when asked about which candidate had the better plan for the future for defense spending, an overwhelming percentage of participants responded that they believed Rebecca Sanders plan to change where the defense spending money is spent, rather than increase or decrease the actual defense budget itself. Almost 75% of respondents would support Sander’s reallocation of funds. The remaining poll takers favored Rubio’s approach, which he has maintained to be increasing the defense budget by cutting other less important programs. In such situations where the poll taker favored Rubio’s plan for the future of defense spending, they also tended to support Rubio’s ideas on education. My poll showed that 90% of respondents that favored Rubio’s idea on national defense also supported his stance on education. The poll results also showed that 67% of Americans do support the additional security measures that have been put in place at major transportation hubs and stadiums around the country. Neither candidate has spoken much on the topic of national defense/security vs. privacy but with the release of the poll results it may become a bit more of a deciding factor for the presidency. The second part of my polling focused on the current education system and what reformation could be considered to further advance one of the most important parts of our society. One of the most interesting results that I saw with my poll was the number of respondents that wanted to attempt to make free tuition for college an actual thing. Actually, 71% of people I asked, though most of them students advocated and supported the idea for the removal of school tuition. Most of these people that supported the idea of free tuition also seemed to gravitate towards supporting Rebecca Sanders on other issues. One of my other poll questions dealt with the reformation of the common core and whether a major change was necessary for America’s public education systems. 30% of people wanted to see the common core removed, while 43% wanted it to be reformed, and the last 27% preferred no change to the common core. Both Sanders and Rubio have discussed this in previous debates and press conferences but now with the results of our poll being released, it will be interesting to see what changes they make to their strategy. With just over a week to go before the election, the finishing touches will be made on speeches, and soon enough the votes will come in and we will have our new President of the United States.
